HIV and Massage

Being HIV+ is not a contraindication to massage. It is not possible to transmit HIV through skin-to-skin contact.

However, if you have cuts or scratches or open wounds, I would take the same health precautions with you as I would with any other client to prevent infecting you or myself. I do not ask about HIV, but of course anything you decide to tell me is confidential.

I treat HIV+ clients the same as HIV- clients. The sanitation procedures I use for all clients are suitable for clients with weakened immune systems.  The table is cleaned with alcohol between clients, sheets are washed with hot water and bleach, stones are cleaned with antiseptic soap and hot water... every precaution is taken to insure that one client will not infect another with measles, malaria, bubonic plague, or the disease du jour.

Some of the illnesses associated with a failing immune system may contraindicate massage. When you call for your appointment (214-395-8000) we can discuss those concerns.
