Prostate Massage
I have had a number of calls from men seeking
prostate massage. Very rarely I will do
lymphatic drainage of the prostate,
but only if it
is needed. Before beginning this treatment, please
understand what I offer: callers are often looking for something else.
A prostate lymphatic drainage treatment is
not erotic. For one thing, I don't go in "the easy
way." The simplest way to get to the prostate is through the
anus, but that method is beyond my scope of practice as a
licensed massage therapist. To reach the prostate, I press
deeply under the pubic bone, behind the bladder, as the client exhales
with his knees up. This procedure is mildly uncomfortable.

You should have an empty bladder before we begin.
So
why would anyone even want a prostate massage? When the
prostate is enlarged, lymphatic drainage therapy can sometimes
reduce swelling in the prostate and surrounding tissue. That
means fewer trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night,
less "dribbling" afterward, and of course, a healthier prostate.
Since the prostate normally grows as men age, it has been said
that all men will have prostate problems if they live long
enough. Occasional prostate massage can be a part of your
regular health care regimen.
If you have an enlarged prostate, it is
important to see your doctor to rule out serious problems. Lymphatic
drainage therapy is not a substitute for medical treatment.

* In fact, I have heard it said that it
might be easier to remove the prostate, massage it, and stick it
back in. I don't think prostate massage is that uncomfortable,
but I must confess that this is not the sort of pleasant relaxing massage for which
Tranquility Time is known.
